GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW - 1972

Two great novelties: in February the 11th Boat Show is combined with the 1st SIAS - the International Underwater Equipment Show. The Trailer - Camping Show, conversely, was previously detached from the Boat Show and incorporated into the 'Primavera' Trade fair. "Primavera". This is the year when two editions are held: one from 29th January to 7th February, the second in October.
During the eleventh edition, opened by the MP Paolo Emilio Taviani, a special prize was awarded to 16 exhibitors who had taken part in the Show for 10 consecutive years.

4th ICOMIA Congress on safety onboard (3rd and 4th February 1972). Journalists: 271, 49 of whom from abroad. 797 articles upon Show closing, 52 TV reportages on RAI (the Italian TV and broadcasting corporation channels), 32 of which on the radio and 20 on TV. Around 40 pages of articles, including special reportages.
The Show closing ceremony takes place in the presence of the Marina Mercantile Minister, Senator Attaguile.
The Show is by now the key-event for the boating industry: its increasing success and lure, also in terms of contacts with foreign operators, and its worldwide scope lead the organisers to move the Show to the autumn season. (The boat production has increased from 9,616 boats in 1960 to 50,000 in 1972, recording a fivefold increase in just a little more than a decade).

The twelfth edition, opened by the Marina Mercantile Minister, Mr Giuseppe Lupis, was thus held in 1972, from 1st to 10th December, highlighting the excellent organisational skills of Fiera di Genova and Ucina. 1,183 exhibitors participated, 440 of whom were foreigners, from 22 countries.
Around 1,500 boats were on display, with more than 500 new features and items presented in the various trade sectors. This edition was characterised by the participation of many lone sailors. 267 journalists were accredited at the Show Press Room. The number of visitors reached 400,000 people, with a considerable increase in professionals, who were 60% more than in the 11th edition, and a large number of foreign visitors, coming from 39 countries.
