GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW - 2000
The Show is opened by the Transports Minister, Mr Pierluigi Bersani.
The Show fortieth edition is held under the colours of the America's Cup: both Luna Rossa - the Prada Team boat winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup - and the New Zealand team with the prestigious Trophy are present at the Show. By announcing the purchase of 'Bravo Espana', Vincenzo Onorato arouses great expectations for a new Italian challenge during next America's Cup. Among over 1,900 boats on show is 'Bannock', the Coastguard oceanographic ship, and the Prince frigate, a perfect reproduction of the late-sixteenth century ships of Andrea Doria's fleet.
UCINA presents the Italian Boating Industry Manifesto: a call upon the State and the Government for a series of measures ensuring an effective and consistent policy fostering a real growth in the Italian nautical tourism, as well as an important contribution to economic development and employment opportunities.
Marina Uno is completed by a raised panoramic walkway. Thanks to a series of wooden bridges and a floating gangway, the public has the opportunity to walk along a circular route between the two marinas and the basins.
The Show is further enlarged, reaching a total surface of 375,000 square meters; fishing equipment is moved back to the Pavilion B gallery.
